Hmmm .... just thinking aloud.

I guess the use of SLOP would enhance 'safety' in certain conditions (level separation), perhaps on uni-directional routes. That will somehow give more separation between the acft on top or below, but only if ie... 300 340 380 uses SLOP while those on 320 360 400 don't. Just my thoughts thinking aloud. But hope that doesn't make pilots think that they now hv 4000 ft separation, cos some might not slop due wake vortices coming from the front.

For bi-directional routes, I'm not too sure.

Maybe with mandatory airway RNP data on board, safety can be more enhanced, as tired pilots might inadvertently use these procedures on continental routes in-shore that are RNP4 or RNAV4. Maybe the FMC can hv warning messages when offset function is used on those airways.
