CPDLC from the controller side is basically finished and has entered
beta state. I still need to review some documentation to see whether
I missed something, but it all works. And I mean WORKS, it is online
on the ACARS network and all stuff is as it should be.Get it from:
http://www.hoppie.nl/tmp/atcacars.zipNow it is online, you also need an ACARS account. Most people have
one, otherwise, ask me. Put this in File/Setup, together with the
ICAO designator of your test ATC station. To test the thing, you will need to pull up your web browser and
imitate a couple of planes. This is not required later on when there
will be dedicated plane clients, but for now you need to fumble a bit.Start here:
http://www.hoppie.nl/flightline/acars/The ATC end of the system is not able to just send messages into the
void. First, planes must log on. Do this in your browser:Send Message
CPDLC editor
From: invent a plane call sign (QF25)
To: your ATC ICAO designator
MIN and MRN: leave as they are
Message: "request descent to fl370 due to weather"
RA: Yes (only the final "roger" or "wilco" deserves a No).
Fill in your logon code (once) and hit Submit Message.Your ATC end will pick up this message in about a minute. You can
speed up this polling process by clicking on the bottom message bar of
the ATC client. Open the Current Messages and Planes Online windows to
see what is going on.In your browser, go to the Message Log to see new ATC messages popping
in. You must refresh this page to see anything new. Click on them to
reply (click again on the "reply via CPDLC" link; you need to get
technical if you want to reply in plain text).I trust there will be questions and problems. Just ask :-)
