Phil Bunch

I retired in 2006 after working for many years as a staff scientist in R&D at a large multi-national company. My fields of specialization included the objective measurement of image quality, mostly applied to developing new medical x-ray imaging systems.

After retiring I moved to small but very enjoyable oceanfront retirement home on Cousins Island, Maine.

My education includes an A. B. (physics, with honors) and M. S. and Ph. D. degrees in Medical Physics, all from the University of Chicago.

My current hobbies include PS1 (what else!!), macro and landscape photography, hiking, combat flight sims, listening to classical and most other forms of music, and immersing myself in home theater AV experiences. I also have some interest in amateur astronomy and astronomical photography.

The photograph of me was taken "a few years ago" in Montana at the Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument where "Custer's Last Stand" took place. It's increasingly recognized as a victory for the native people including their legendary Sioux leader, Crazy Horse.
