Born 1967 in Bergeyk, the Netherlands, at the Belgian border. Grew up in
Valkenswaard, still near the Belgian border. Now lives in Tilburg,
again close to the Belgian border, but works in Brussels, at the other
side of the Belgian border. Create a new waypoint HOPPY at
N51°35.178 E005°00.258 for his house.

Educated as an engineer, Jeroen is only happy if something works
in the end, but despite this fact he suddenly found himself with a
PhD, and often has to answer the question: "Yes, it is clear it works
in practice, but does it also work in theory?"

Why he is interested in aviation and especially in air traffic control
is still a mystery. Probably the ongoing effort to make procedures that
should reduce mental workload by taking away thinking and replacing
it by doing is his main drive. A good procedure can be implemented
in a machine, too. The current state-of-the-art in machine-driven
piloting and ATC is so bad, though, that the current procedures must
be a disaster. So he got into the game of finding out better procedures.

To this effect, he first needed to experience how to fly a plane and
how to control a sector, and he is still busy building the required
simulation tools, because nobody grants him pilot or controller rights
in real life.
